The gardens, trails, dock and landing are operated by the Mount Desert Land and Garden Preserve, a non-profit organization founded in 1971 as The Island Foundation. The Preserve assumed ownership of the Asticou Azalea Garden in 1973 and the Asticou Terraces Trust in 2000. The funding for both gardens relies upon the generosity of friends and visitors. Although there is no admission charged at the gardens, donations at the entrance are welcome. We suggest a $3.00 donation for visitors. Other tax deductible contributions may be sent to:
