The trails and carriage roads at Little Long Pond are a magnet for those looking to get a bit of fresh air and exercise in a beautiful space. What many may not realize is that LLP is a biodiversity hot spot. The 1,000 acres around the pond are home, either permanently or temporarily, to a variety of wildlife. Birds are especially abundant in these lands.
Make your hike or walk a bit more joyful by keeping your eyes open for an array of bird species. You may spot bald eagles, herons, loons, owls, and ducks. Many thanks to Dave Ouellette, Preserve land steward, for sharing these photos of our feathered friends.
